Summer Blood Challenge Delmarva employers take part in a friendly competition to save lives and prevent summer blood shortages. To "level the playing field," participating employers are grouped by size and participants earn points. Those organizations with the most points at the end of the Challenge receive awards. Challenge Ends! Totals Being Tallied! 
The Summer Blood Challenge officially ended on Saturday, August 30! Point totals are being tallied and invitations have been sent to representatives from each participating organization to the closing event on September 18. At that time, awards will be presented to the top lifesaving employer on Delmarva as well as to winners in specific categories. Thank You! On behalf of Delmarva patients, we express our gratitude to everyone who participated in the 2008 Summer Blood Challenge! Your dedication to saving lives on Delmarva has been gratifying. To all of you who took the time to give blood, sign up new members, participate in the 5K, host blood drives, adopt a week at our donor centers, encourage your younger employees to sign up, send out our e-newsletter, and in general support the Blood Bank mission every day---we THANK YOU!!! 
Last week was the final week of the 2008 Summer Blood Challenge. Anyone who participated (enrolled as a member or donated blood) was entered into the weekly drawing for a $25 Valero® gas card. Congratulations to this week's winners:
All Summer Blood Challenge participants are entered into the grand prize drawing which will be held on September 18. Read more below. 
Wouldn't YOU like to know!!! The winners of the cruise, $500 Valero® gas card, gym membership and other great prizes will be announced on September 18. What we CAN tell you are the names of the six finalists. But.......not just yet. The random drawing of the six finalists will take place this week. Look for the names of those lucky individuals in next week's e-newsletter. Until then, you'll just have to wait! 
Thank you to the multitude of people who rolled up their sleeves to give the gift of life this summer. Your compassion for those in need is truly special. Because of you, the Blood Bank has been able to maintain a steady blood supply this summer. Because of you, hundreds of patients across Delmarva have been helped. Because of you, people with leukemia, cancer, and other life-threatening diseases have been given another chance. Because of you, trauma victims and people having major surgery have been helped along the road to recovery. Because of you, life is better for people in need. Thank you!
