School Program Info
If you haven't scheduled your school's blood drive, it's not too late! Please contact your blood drive coordinator, or email Lauren Bacon- lbacon@bbd.org to reserve a date.
Don't forget that everyone needs to bring a Photo ID or two other forms of ID to your blood drive in order to donate.
The Hero Program runs until August 31, 2009. Remind your friends and family to fill out a Hero card at any Blood Bank of Delmarva location to earn donation points for your school.

And the Winners are...
Student Coordinators walked down the red carpet to Hollywood themed awards luncheons across Delmarva over the past several weeks. Congratulations to William Penn High School-- the top winning school with 239 blood donors. Many schools received awards for their outstanding achievements. Click here for a full list of awardees.

September and October's Lifesavers
The 2008-2009 school year is off to a great start! Delmarva's schools hosted eight blood drives in September and October. A total of 444 pints of blood were donated at those blood drives. Lake Forest hosted the first of their four (yes, four!) blood drives just a few weeks after the start of the school year.
Blood Drop Tip: if your school only hosts one blood drive each year, consider hosting a second one. You could double your school's participation AND double the number of lives you saved! Click here to see blood drive results. Click here to see blood drive photos.

Theme for the Year
Everyone involved with your school's blood drive plays an important role. Whether you are recruiting blood donors, creating posters, unloading the Blood Bank truck, or working the canteen, you are vital to the success of the blood drive. There is nothing more heartwarming to watch than school blood drives in action. Our shirt this year resembles a movie ratings bar and reminds people that school blood drives truly do contain scenes of everyday lifesaving heroism. Everyone who registers for their school's blood drive will receive a shirt as a special thanks. We hope that everyone who donates will wear their shirt proudly and spread the word about the importance of blood donation.

Contest Announcement!
To accompany our movie theme this year, we are excited to announce a video contest! Click here for full details. A mailing will be sent to all school blood drive advisors shortly. We are hoping to view some amazing videos, and can't wait to award $1,000 in prizes to the winning schools at next year's luncheons.
The deadline is May 31, 2009, so you have plenty of time to get creative and produce a funny, serious, or dramatic blood drive recruitment video! If you have questions, please contact Lauren Bacon, lbacon@bbd.org
