Summer Blood Challenge

Delmarva employers take part in a friendly competition to save lives and prevent summer blood shortages. To "level the playing field," participating employers are grouped by size and participants earn points. Those organizations with the most points at the end of the Challenge receive awards.

Blood Donors Answer The Call

The last two weeks of the Summer Blood Challenge have been busy ones as dedicated blood donors answered the call to save lives. Last week, Delaware River and Bay Authority and the City of Wilmington adopted a week. The City of Wilmington also is adopting this week! Blood donors also came out in force at on-site blood drives last week at these locations:

• CITI
• BayHealth - Kent General Hospital
• Barclays
• Artesian Water
• BayHealth - Milford Memorial Hospital

This week promises to be a busy one as well with the following Summer Blood Challenge employers hosting drives:

• ATK
• ACE
• JPMorgan Chase

Thanks to all Summer Blood Challenge companies and organizations who have been busy all summer recruiting new members and blood donors. You are heroes to the patients in area hospitals who depend on lifesaving blood transfusions.

The Home Stretch!

The clock is ticking! We are in the home stretch! The 2008 Summer Blood Challenge ends on Saturday, August 30!

There is still time to earn additional points! You can continue to increase your points total this week! Reminders to staff about membership are a great method. (Don't forget that extra point for those 17-35!) Also, be sure to encourage your employees to call and schedule a blood donation appointment. (There is still some room in the schedule for additional donors this week.) Keep up the good work!

The commitment and dedication of the SBC organizations who signed on this year has been wonderful! Your participation has truly made a lifesaving difference. Thank you!
